Trabalho e Políticas de Emprego: Um Retrocesso Evitável

The book Trabalho e Políticas de Emprego: Um Retrocesso Evitável, coordinated by Manuel Carvalho da Silva, Pedro Hespanha and José Castro Caldas, has as its object research work and employment, the impact of the crisis in terms of unemployment and precariousness, the public policies adopted under the Troika memorandum, their meaning and their consequences. Here, it is shown that the rescue to which Portugal was subjected made the work “variable of adjustment”, an imbalance that, in its origin, was first of all a financial imbalance. Furthermore, it is argued that real rebalancing involves the revaluation of work in all its dimensions – retribution, security, autonomy, participation in the definition of the destiny of companies and other organizations.
